Timespan lets you lead your civilization from the stone age to the space age in about 90 minutes. There is no warfare here: the focus is on the peaceful side of civilization building, on exploration and on building a solid economic engine.

Each player combines one of six asymmetric civilizations with one of six technology boards, then customizes their civilization by recruiting historic persons, buildings, technologies and wonders. The game is played over 5 rounds. Each one starts with an exploration phase where you draft cards and discovery tiles, followed by an action phase played simultaneously by everyone, with a worker placement system that advances your culture, science, ship and even space tracks.

Timespan is for you if you like civilization games but prefer a smooth pace without downtime over a game that lasts several hours. You will probably enjoy this game if you like strategy games where every combination of civilization and technology makes for a different game, solo or with up to 5 players.

Timespan was designed by Kenneth Minde and Kristian Amundsen Østby, the designers of Automania and Bad Company, with illustrations by Nilanjan Malakar.
