Jardin de corail (ML)

The coral reefs are fading, and it is up to you to bring them back to life! In Blooming Sea (Jardin de corail), a family tile-laying game for 2 to 4 players, you play an environmentalist restoring magnificent reefs beneath the sea. On your turn, you place a tile filled with small clusters of corals on the board, connecting corals of the same color to create or expand a reef. The bigger your reefs, the more points they earn you. You also score by surrounding fish with corals of your color and giving them a new habitat. The game ends when the last fish is scored, and the player who made the most beautiful reef bloom wins.

The rules take only a few minutes to explain, yet every tile brings a small dilemma: expand your reef, block an opponent's, or go after the fish worth the most points? With games of about 30 minutes and colorful underwater artwork, it is an accessible board game, perfect for an evening with family or friends.

Blooming Sea is for you if you enjoy tile-placement games that are easy to learn but reward a careful look at the board before you play. You will feel right at home if you want an ocean-themed, eco-minded game that is quick to set up and put away, and that appeals to kids aged 8 and up as much as to adults.

Fun fact: the box is fully bilingual French-English, and the game is known as Jardin de corail in French Canada. The fish you surround with corals are at the heart of the strategy: their value and the color that dominates them decide who collects the points.

The game is by Reiner Knizia, a world-renowned board game designer. The colorful reef artwork is by Gorani.
