In Pocket Battles: Orcs vs Elves, war fits in your pocket. Each player raises an army from a pool of troop tiles, then sends it into battle on a battlefield split into three sectors. Each tile hits on certain dice rolls: some only fight in melee, others shoot from afar, and several have a special trait that benefits their whole unit, or even the whole army. Elves and orcs clash in this fast and bloody wargame where you must choose which units to order, when to charge and when to redeploy. The game ends when one army has eliminated at least half the value of the opposing army.
Pocket Battles: Orcs vs Elves is for you if you love two-player duels, fantasy battles and tactical decisions, but are short on time or table space. This game sets up quickly and plays in under an hour.
Released in 2010, this game is the second in the Pocket Battles series, after Celts vs. Romans. The armies across the whole series are designed to be compatible with each other: you can make the orcs fight the Romans, or build a mixed army of elves and Celts. That means endless variety with interchangeable armies.
The game is designed by Paolo Mori and Francesco Sirocchi, with illustrations by Karim Chakroun.
