On the mysterious Cuckoo Island, seven powerful members of the Council of Elders control the fate of the realm. In MAD (FR), players take on the role of dark forces seeking to gain influence over these key figures and advance their secret agendas. Success, however, depends on the cooperation of others... at least for a while.

Each player holds secret objectives connected to specific Council members. To score influence points, players must convince opponents to help them, manipulate alliances, and carefully manage the information they reveal. Temporary partnerships are valuable, but betrayal is often even more rewarding.

On a turn, a player selects a card from their hand, secretly gives it to an opponent, and instructs them where to play it. The receiving player then decides whether to follow the request or place the card elsewhere. If they refuse, the card must be played face up, revealing information to everyone at the table. This simple mechanism creates constant tension and meaningful social interaction.

The game is played over two rounds. At the end of each round, players score points based on their secret objectives and influence over different Council members. Victory belongs to the player who best balances cooperation, negotiation, deception, and timing.

MAD was designed by Thomas Dagenais-Lespérance and illustrated by Pablo Hernandez. Together they created an accessible card game where reading your opponents is often more important than the cards in your hand.
