  • Top 10 Best Sellers – August 2026

August is the home stretch of summer. We're enjoying the last dinners on the patio and the last weekends at the cottage… and already starting to think about back-to-school. Quick, easy-to-carry games are still going strong, but you can feel the urge coming back to pull out games for the cozy nights at home ahead.

The ranking moves a lot this month! Two games make a spectacular climb, two new faces join the list and a regular at the top holds on to first place. Here are the 10 games that stood out at L'As des jeux in August 2026.

    🥇 1 - Flip 7: With a Vengeance

Him again! Flip 7 takes first place for the eighth time in nine months, and this time it's the With a Vengeance version leading the way. The concept doesn't change: you flip cards one at a time to rack up points without ever revealing the same number twice. The longer your row gets, the higher the tension.

The difference? The bonus cards from the original game are replaced by much nastier action cards. You can steal, swap or discard cards, or force an opponent to flip several more. New cards like Lucky 13, Unlucky 7 and Zero also shake up the usual strategies. Present in every one of our rankings since August 2025, Flip 7 now rounds out a full year in the Top 10.

    Players: 3 to 20
    Play time: 20 minutes
    Age: 8+

    🥈 2 - Miams

After squeaking into tenth place in July, Miams jumps eight spots and climbs all the way to second! On each turn, players roll their dice to make combinations like a pair, three of a kind, four of a kind, a full house or the famous Miams, then move up their sheet to collect the hearts they need to win.

What gives the game its flavour are the Miams cards: they change the value of the fruits, add bonuses and let you build juicier and juicier combos. An ordinary roll can suddenly pay off big. Easy to learn, and more and more strategic as you play.

    Players: 1 to 5
    Play time: 30 minutes
    Age: 10+

    🥉 3 - Twist 19

After debuting in seventh place last month, Twist 19 climbs onto the podium. The goal: empty your hand by playing values lower than the ones already on the table. Easy as pie… until the special cards get involved!

The Banana makes you lose a turn, the Pineapple cuts the game and the Fruit Salad forces an opponent to pick up the cards. Small, fast and full of sneaky attacks, Twist 19 clearly went on vacation with plenty of families this summer.

    Players: 2 to 6
    Play time: 20 minutes
    Age: 8+

    4 - Hitster – Soundtracks FILMS & TV

There's no budging it! For a third month in a row, Hitster – Soundtracks FILMS & TV finishes in fourth place, after taking the top spot when it arrived in May. You scan a card with the app, listen to the clip on Spotify and try to place it in the right spot on your timeline.

Iconic movie themes, TV show openings that shaped our childhood: every card brings back memories and gets the conversation going. Quick reminder: this is an expansion, so you need a base version of Hitster to play.

    Players: 2 to 10
    Play time: 30 minutes
    Age: 16+

    5 - Skyjo

Skyjo climbs from eighth to fifth place and marks its ninth straight month among our best sellers. Each player tries to lower the value of their 12-card grid by swapping out high numbers for better options, turn after turn.

When a column of three identical cards is completed, it disappears from the grid and no longer counts toward your score. A small rule that creates great reversals! Accessible and multigenerational, Skyjo is still a safe bet for any occasion.

    Players: 2 to 8
Play time: 15 to 45 minutes
    Age: 8+

    6 - TACTA

TACTA slips one spot, from fifth to sixth, but keeps up its consistency: this is its eighth straight month in the Top 10. Players line up, rotate and overlap their cards to cover their opponents' shapes, whether squares, triangles or rectangles.

The board builds itself right on the table and gets more complex with every placement. Rules you can explain in two minutes, but a real challenge of logic and planning that appeals to families and puzzle lovers alike.

    Players: 2 to 6
Play time: 20 minutes and up
    Age: 7+

    7 - Ipso

Ipso makes a comeback in the ranking, after finishing sixth in May. Players gradually build a pyramid of cards to form the best possible sequences. Every card you place is permanent, so every decision counts.

Quick to set up and fast to play, Ipso offers the kind of little optimization puzzle that makes you want a rematch as soon as the game ends.

    Players: 2 to 6
    Play time: 20 minutes
    Age: 7+

    8 - Lumios

Lumios makes its first appearance in the ranking with a skill game that gets the whole family moving. Two teams compete to take control of five light-up balls placed in the middle of the play area. Using the luminator, you aim at the balls to make them change colour, from green to blue and back again.

The first team to show all the balls in its colour wins… and gets to shout "Lumiooos!". Its very simple rules make it accessible from age 4, and it plays just as well in the living room as in the backyard. A nice way to get kids away from screens, especially as the light fades in the evening.

    Players: 2 to 6
    Play time: 15 minutes
    Age: 4+

    9 - Got Five

After its second place in July, Got Five drops to ninth (it was temporarily out of stock!), but stays in the Top 10 for a fourth straight month. In this logic game, everyone can see the numbers in front of their opponents… but not their own. To figure out your five hidden tiles, you have to ask the right questions and rule out possibilities.

All the information stays visible on the table, turning every game into a puzzle that evolves turn after turn. Fast, clever and accessible, Got Five shows that a deduction game can also be a family game.

    Players: 2 to 4
    Play time: 15 minutes
    Age: 8+

    10 - Magical Athlete

Magical Athlete joins the ranking! Each player puts together a team of zany athletes before taking off on a series of completely unpredictable magical races. A die roll decides the movement, but every character has a special power that can turn everything upside down.

Wizards, elves, cyclopes and strange creatures face off on "mild" or "wild" tracks. You have to pick your racers carefully and bet on the right moment to send them out. Originally created in Japan by Takashi Ishida, with a touch from Richard Garfield (the creator of Magic: The Gathering), this racing game full of twists is now available in English and in French, under the name Athlètes de compète.

    Players: 4 to 6
Play time: 60 to 90 minutes
    Age: 10+

    August 2026 in review

The August ranking shows that dice and card games packed with combos are in high demand. Miams and Twist 19, both newcomers in July, make an impressive climb all the way to the podium. Lumios and Magical Athlete join the list, while Ipso returns after a few months away.

At the top, Flip 7 keeps writing its story: a full year in the Top 10 and an eighth first place in nine months, this time thanks to With a Vengeance. Behind it, Hitster, Skyjo and TACTA prove that a good game never goes out of style.

With back-to-school and fall settling in, game nights at home are making their comeback. Who will top the September ranking? Find out very soon!

Play more. Laugh more. Make memories.
