With Wingspan Pocket, the bird-watching universe of the celebrated Wingspan now fits in a tiny box. This card game distills the original experience into a lighter, faster format without losing any of its magic: each turn, you activate a single row of birds to gather food, lay eggs, or attract a new species to your reserve.

All the cards are double-sided, with a food side and a bird side. Bird powers are shown mostly through icons instead of text, making hand management intuitive even for a first-time player, while still leaving enough depth for veterans. The game ends as soon as someone plays their sixth bird: there are no fixed rounds to track, just a steady flow of turns where you choose to acquire a bird, draw food, or lay eggs from a shared pool of cards.

Fun fact: Wingspan Pocket draws on the universe of the original Wingspan, winner of the prestigious 2019 Kennerspiel des Jahres and several other honors. It is a standalone game with its own birds, though: the cards do not mix with the classic Wingspan or its expansions, but the pocket format and lightning-fast setup (about 2 minutes) make it a great entry point before moving on to the bigger game.

The game is designed by Elizabeth Hargrave, also known for Wingspan and Mariposas, alongside illustrators Ana Maria Martinez Jaramillo and Natalia Rojas, who bring the birds from around the world on the cards to life. With its short playtime and high replayability thanks to countless bird combinations, Wingspan Pocket fits just as easily into family game night as into a table of experienced gamers.
