In 1135, England plunged into chaos after the sudden death of King Henry I. His daughter, Empress Matilda, claimed succession, but his nephew Stephen seized the crown. Thus began The Anarchy, an 18-year civil war that devastated the realm.

In The Anarchy, you play as an English noble loyal to King Stephen. Over five rounds, you must develop your domain, fortify your castle against Anjevin assaults, and besiege Matilda’s strongholds with crafted siege weapons. The player who earns the most Bravery, Loyalty, Influence, and Might while avoiding Discontent will win the king’s greatest favour.
