Star realms: Rise of Empire (EN)

Star Realms: Rise of Empire drops space deckbuilding fans into a brand new chapter of the Star Realms universe: a 12-scenario legacy campaign where every game permanently reshapes the deck left behind by the last one. A standalone prequel to the series, the box plays right away as a 2-player duel between the Trade Federation and the Star Empire, each side building its deck by buying ships and bases from a shared market. At each scenario, players open a sealed envelope revealing new cards, stickers to permanently apply to the board, and brand new rules: the trade deck literally evolves throughout the campaign, leading to the discovery of three new factions, Consortium, Scavengers, and Kingdom, that completely redraw the possible strategies.

You'll probably love Rise of Empire if you're into fast, tactical deckbuilding games but want an extra layer of storytelling on top: every game becomes a chapter in a story you and your opponent build together, decision after decision, until you reach a final deck fully shaped by your shared choices.

Interesting fact: the Star Realms series, of which this box is the standalone prequel, won the Origins Award for Best Card Game (Fan Favorite) as well as several Golden Geek Awards, including Best 2-Player Game. Once the 12-scenario campaign is complete, Rise of Empire becomes a customized, standalone Star Realms set playable with 2 to 6 players when combined with other boxes in the series, such as Star Realms - Box Set (EN).

Rise of Empire is designed by Robert Dougherty and Darwin Kastle, the creators of the entire Star Realms series and former competitive Magic: The Gathering champions. The duo builds on the formula that made the franchise a hit by adding, for the first time, a permanent storyline worthy of a true legacy game.
