Around the table, night falls and suspicion sets in. In Soupçons (FR), every player holds a hand of Mask cards and must get rid of them, one at a time, face down, by handing them to an accomplice whose door is still open. Here's the catch: when you pass a card, you have to announce its value out loud, and nothing stops you from lying. The person across from you can accept your card or refuse it, forcing you to offer another, then a third if their doubt lingers. Every correctly guessed card flips a Night card in the center of the table over to its Day side: that's the shared goal, at least on the surface. Because some Mask cards secretly hide a Snake, and whoever holds one quietly becomes an ally of the night, working to keep it from ever breaking. Worse, that role can shift mid-game, so nobody is ever fully sure who's really playing for whom. It's a jittery bluffing game that plays out as much through cards as through faces, hesitations and accusations tossed around a table full of newly suspicious friends.

Soupçons is for you if you love social deduction games where every trade might be a setup, if you enjoy reading faces around the table to catch a lie, and if you want a quick party card game you can pull out with friends or family without a lengthy rules explanation. Just be warned if you hate being lied to straight to your face: here, it's pretty much guaranteed.

Soupçons was created by an entire family of designers: Inka and Markus Brand have worked together since meeting at a wedding in 1999, where they spent the evening talking about board games. Since 2006, the couple has designed nearly 200 games together, and their children Emely and Lukas joined them to co-create Soupçons, published in 2025.

Design credit goes to Inka, Markus, Emely and Lukas Brand, a family well known to board game fans for co-creating the popular Exit: The Game series along with several other beloved family titles. The illustrations, full of mischievous snakes and a nighttime mood, are by Florian Biege and Tina Kraus.
