Root: Homeland Hireling Pack (EN)
- In stock, ready to ship
Homeland Hireling Pack adds three new hirelings to the wild woodland of Root, the asymmetric strategy game that built the series' reputation. This small expansion introduces the River Roamers, the Sunny Advocates, and the neutral Prosperous Farmers: each one arrives with its own double-sided tarot card and new meeples that add fresh pieces to the map. Easy to slot in, it fits right into any game of Root without adding extra rules overhead, no matter how many players are at the table.
You will likely enjoy Homeland Hireling Pack if you are already hooked on Root and want to vary your strategies from one game to the next. With fewer players, these hirelings add new pieces to the map and more tactical options; with more players, some cards flip over to reveal special abilities that open the door to fresh strategies.
This add-on was born from a 2024 crowdfunding campaign before officially joining the catalog in 2026, alongside the larger Homeland Expansion and the Squires and Disciples Deck, all released in the same wave to further expand the world of Root.
Development of this add-on carries the mark of Joshua Yearsley, an editor and designer who has been part of the entire Root line since its early days, and who designed the Keepers in Iron faction for the Marauder Expansion. The base game itself remains credited to Cole Wehrle, also behind Root: A Game of Woodland Might and Right, Arcs, and Oath: Chronicles of Empire and Exile, all driven by the same taste for asymmetric strategies.
To use this add-on, you will of course need a copy of the base game Root: A Game of Woodland Might and Right. It also pairs naturally with the Homeland Expansion wave, which introduces new factions into the same world.
