Welcome to the Mekong delta, where every year the boldest young folk of the kingdom compete to win a golden dragon for their king. In River Dragons, you play one of these contenders: to win, you must cross the river by laying stones and wooden planks, all without falling in the water. The catch is that everyone plays at the same time! Each round you secretly program five actions (place a stone, place a plank, move your pawn, knock out an opponent's support...), then everything is revealed and resolved card by card, in a cheerful chaos where the best-laid plans sometimes end up in the drink. This fast, clever board game blends anticipation, bluffing, and quick thinking: do you creep forward on solid ground or risk a shortcut while the dragons of the Mekong keep watch? Perfect for family game nights or evenings with friends, River Dragons plays in about thirty minutes and never plays the same way twice, since every match shifts with every opponent's move.

You will most likely enjoy River Dragons if you like games where reading your opponents' plans is half the fun, if you love short games you can replay right away, and if you are looking for a title accessible from age 8 that brings kids and adults to the same table without losing any tension. Fun fact: under its original name Dragon Delta, this game received a Spiel des Jahres recommendation in 2001 and won the Concours International de Createurs de Jeux de Societe (an international board game design contest) in 2000, before returning in 2012 as River Dragons with a reversible board and refreshed components.

River Dragons was designed by Roberto Fraga, co-designer of the widely loved Captain Sonar, who has a knack for games built around player interaction. The colorful artwork is signed by Piero, Guillaume Rohmer, and Cyril Saint-Blancat, who bring the Mekong delta and its mischievous dragons to life.
