It is midnight in a New York City emergency room, and your night shift team has just clocked in. In this cooperative medical mystery game, you play emergency room doctors thrown into the heart of a New York City emergency room, from midnight to eight in the morning, while patients arrive one after another with symptoms that grow more troubling by the minute. Every case starts the same way: an intake interview, then an electronic medical record to comb through for the first clues. It is up to you to question the patient, order tests, consult specialists, and prescribe the right treatments before time runs out. Each decision points to a three digit code you look up in the codex, the reference booklet that reveals the consequences of your choices and moves the case forward. The box includes four patient cases of increasing difficulty, preceded by a full tutorial that eases you in without requiring any prior medical knowledge. With no app and no real timer, everything plays out with physical material spread across the table, for an experience as immersive as a genuine case file to crack as a team.
