*French version
A hundred years ago, a king watched his realm teeter. Today the queen has to hold the crown, and your seat on her Council is anything but comfortable. The Queen's Dilemma (FR) is a Legacy board game of strategy and negotiation for 3 to 6 players, a standalone sequel to The King's Dilemma. Each player embodies one of the six Council members for the whole adventure: a master of intrigue, a military leader, a greedy merchant, a philosopher of progress, an aristocrat drawn to the occult, or a lord tied to crime.
Every session, new political dilemmas are put to the table. You debate, negotiate, buy support, then vote with your power to decide the fate of the realm of Anclisse. Your choices shift the balance between six ideologies (Tradition against Progress, Force against Diplomacy, Order against Liberty), unlock new rules, transform the map and leave keywords that will come back to reward or haunt you. Between votes, you manage the resources of your lands, construct buildings and chase secret objectives that can serve or betray the group. The result is a narrative campaign of about 30 to 40 hours spread over 14 to 18 sessions, where alliances shift from one game to the next.
The Queen's Dilemma is for you if you want a long-haul group adventure where discussion, bluffing and backstabbing count as much as planning. It suits a regular table of friends ready to meet session after session and live with the consequences of their decisions. Groups of 5 or 6 players are the most recommended by players on BoardGameGeek.
Did you know? The King's Dilemma, which this game follows, was nominated for the Kennerspiel des Jahres. This new box keeps the Dilemma card system and enriches it with an ideology system, keywords, buildings and personal abilities unique to each character.
The game is by Lorenzo Silva and Hjalmar Hach, who are also behind The King's Dilemma, with illustrations by Martin Mottet.
