King of Tokyo - ext. Mindbug (EN)

Giant portals tear open the sky above Tokyo, unleashing a tentacled new threat from another dimension entirely. The King of Tokyo: Mindbug expansion smashes together two cult board games into one explosive crossover between kaiju chaos and creature combat. Three new monsters join the brawl for control of Tokyo: MasterMindbug, the unlikely hybrid known as Sharky Crab-Dog MummyPus-Zilla, and Gigasteropod, each arriving with its own set of Evolution cards. The big twist: dice officially enter the Mindbug universe for the very first time. Certain attacks now trigger a dice roll for power boosts, energy cubes, or a straight-up slap that knocks an opponent's creature right out of play. Every player also gets Mindbug tokens, letting them hijack an opponent's dice result at exactly the right moment and apply it to their own account instead. The Energy cards get a shake-up too, with a brand new card type called Consumables: cards you hold in reserve and trigger only when the timing is perfect, discarding them right after.

You'll probably love this expansion if you already enjoy the giant monsters smashing each other in King of Tokyo but want a little extra tension at the table. The new dice system adds a solid dose of calculated luck, and stealing an opponent's roll with a Mindbug token turns every attack into a small psychological duel between players. A perfect pickup for groups who already know the base game by heart and want to shake up the formula without starting over.

Fun fact: this is the very first time dice have officially shown up in the Mindbug universe, a mechanic that was completely absent from that creature-dueling series until now. Behind this unlikely mashup is the same mind: Richard Garfield created both King of Tokyo and Mindbug, which makes this expansion feel like a genuine homecoming rather than a simple marketing crossover.

Richard Garfield, also known for Magic: The Gathering and King of Monster Island, once again handles the design on this expansion, while Regis Torres delivers artwork that gives the new monsters plenty of personality.

Heads up, this box can't be played on its own: you'll need to already own the King of Tokyo base game (or another compatible core box from the line) to add these new monsters to your games.
