JvH Junior #21, la grande braderie (240 pcs)
- In stock, ready to ship
Under a row of tall trees strung with orange and blue pennant garlands, a cheerful flea market springs to life outdoors. On blankets spread across the grass and in a small wooden cart, budding sellers lay out a cardboard crown, a purse of coins and all sorts of old toys pulled from the back of a drawer. At the center of the scene, a trio of young musicians improvises a concert with trumpet, guitar and drum, while a couple breaks into a tango under a sign inviting passersby to dance. A dog and a cat dart between the legs of the crowd, soap bubbles float through the air, and in the background a camper van parked under the trees completes this colorful fair, where every corner of the picture hides a new detail to discover.
The puzzle's original Dutch title, De vrijmarkt, points to a well-known tradition in the Netherlands: a sprawling, improvised flea market where children and adults alike sell their used toys and belongings in the street during the King's birthday celebrations. The scene captures the festive spirit of that day, complete with occasional sellers and bargain finds. This twenty-first entry in the JvH Junior collection, with its 240 pieces, invites kids ages 6 and up to get their first taste, through bigger pieces and an easier difficulty level, of the wildly detailed humor that has made Jan van Haasteren puzzles famous for decades.
This puzzle for kids carries the signature of illustrator Wilma van den Bosch, who carries forward the visual world of Dutch cartoonist Jan van Haasteren while adapting it for a younger audience. The JvH Junior collection features several other scenes of the same kind, all designed to introduce beginners to these famous Dutch comic puzzles.
