Each turn you play innovation cards, from agriculture and pottery all the way to computers and globalization, stacking them on top of each other to build the face of your empire. Every card carries a unique power, a dogma, which you activate to gather resources, advance your technologies or flat out plunder what your rivals spent turns building. The game's signature move is meld and splay: you can tilt your card piles sideways to reveal hidden symbols and unlock devastating combos, turning every stack of cards into a strategic engine. Innovation Ultimate is the edition that gathers everything built around the original game: the base game fully reworked into its 4th edition, its four historical expansions and a brand new exclusive expansion, all in a single box designed to last for years of play.

The original Innovation won the Golden Geek Award for Best Card Game in 2010, a recognition that turned it into a genre reference for more than a decade. On BoardGameGeek, it still ranks among the platform's highest-rated strategy card games, with an average above 8 out of 10 after more than 1400 votes. Innovation Ultimate pushes the concept even further: a brand new Age 11 imagines humanity's recent past and near future, and the over 700 cards in this edition had their text and mechanics thoroughly reworked so every expansion is easier to bring into an ongoing game.

Innovation was designed by Carl Chudyk, an author known for his card games with bold mechanics, including Glory to Rome and Impulse. The illustrations in this edition were created by Alanna Cervenak, Sarah Farooqi and Robert Simmons, who reworked the game's iconography to make it clearer and easier to read at the table.
