Rita Berman, born in Moldova, first studied architecture before turning to illustration and freelance design. Based in Frankfurt, Germany, she launched the Happytown series in the mid-2010s, building whimsical, densely populated worlds where every corner rewards a close look. Her playful, colorful style has also produced adult coloring books that became bestsellers.
