Step aboard a bare-bones replica of the famous submarine Nautilus and set out to conquer the depths in Flip Voyage (FR), a flip and write game that drops players into the world of Jules Verne's Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea. Captain Nemo has issued a challenge to his crew: whoever earns the most notoriety will inherit his legacy. Each turn, you flip three cards: one to pick your destination on the sea map, one to give an order to your crew, and one last to carry out that order. Run science experiments, take on rivals at sea, live undersea adventures and free the oppressed, all while building upgrades that make your submarine more efficient. A dual progress track runs through the whole game: on one end your notoriety climbs, on the other the leagues traveled add up, and it is their meeting point that triggers the end of the game.

Flip Voyage is for you if you enjoy solo strategy games that also shine in a group, if the idea of scouring a sea map square by square through card draws appeals to you, and if you are looking for a challenge that reshapes itself with every game thanks to its card combinations. The dedicated solo mode, Farragut's Pursuit, will especially appeal to anyone who likes facing a demanding mechanical opponent without needing a second player.

On BoardGameGeek, Flip Voyage holds an average of 7.6 out of 10 after more than 300 ratings, a warm welcome for a game released in 2026. A mini-expansion, Fantastic Discoveries, is already available to extend the exploration of the depths with new discoveries to track down. The dual progress track, where notoriety and leagues traveled meet to close out the game, is the signature of the system.

The game is designed by Steven Aramini, also behind Fliptown, another flip and write title set in a colorful wild west; the artwork is by Naomi Ferrall, who gives the depths of Flip Voyage their moody, mysterious atmosphere.
