Fisherman's Life drops you right onto the lively quay of a picturesque little fishing harbour, where seaside life is in full swing under a blue, cloud-dotted sky. In the foreground, a wooden rowboat rests on the stones, watched over by a curious cat, while two seagulls glide over the scene. A group of fishermen in orange and yellow oilskins is busy unloading large blue crates full of freshly caught fish, while others mend their nets right on the ground. Behind them, the harbour is packed with boats moored side by side, with a stone village climbing the hillside in the background. On the left, a family enjoys a break outside a stone house draped in flower baskets, right next to a fish and chips sign, while on the right, the terrace of the Cove Cafe welcomes visitors who come to admire the sea view. The whole scene gives off a warm, nostalgic feeling, typical of British fishing villages.

This artwork is a special commission painted exclusively for this jigsaw puzzle, making the scene unique to this box. Fishing ports are known for their strong sense of community, an atmosphere the artist set out to capture down to the smallest detail, from crates of freshly caught fish to the stone facades of the village.

This scene is signed by Steve Cummins, an artist from Cornwall known for his nostalgic paintings of British coastal life, created here for Ravensburger. His detailed, vibrant style brings every character on the quay to life, from the fishermen to the passersby seated on the cafe terrace, for a build full of small details to discover piece by piece.
