*French version
Dungeon Master's Guide (2024) (FR) is the new rulebook for Dungeons & Dragons Dungeon Masters, revised and expanded for fifth edition. This hardcover doorstop gathers everything you need to build worlds, improvise on the fly and keep a table hooked from the first dungeon to the last dragon. Inside you will find concrete advice for handling session curveballs (an absent player, metagaming, a fight that drags on), a toolbox chapter packed with optional rules (firearms, poisons, sieges, curses), and a fully reworked magic item crafting system.
The big new feature of this edition is bastions: starting at level 5, your players can build and grow their own stronghold between adventures, handling crafting, defenses and resources along the way. The book also devotes a full chapter to the cosmology of the planes and another, the longest of the bunch, to treasure: more than 300 magic items and their price tables, including 18 brand new creations for this edition.
To help you put all of this into practice, the Dungeon Master's Guide (2024) offers Greyhawk as a ready-to-use campaign setting: a classic D&D world you can customize freely or reuse as a starting point for your own creations, paired with a double-sided poster of eastern Oerik and the city of Greyhawk.
You will probably love the Dungeon Master's Guide if you already run games and want fresh tools to improvise with confidence, if the idea of letting your players build and defend their own bastion excites you, or if you are starting from scratch and want a ready-to-play campaign setting instead of inventing everything yourself.
This guide comes out for Dungeons & Dragons' 50th anniversary and introduces a fully reorganized reference glossary (Lore Glossary) for quickly finding an important character or location across the Forgotten Realms, an addition aimed at Dungeon Masters juggling several campaigns. The included maps and tracking sheets, designed to be reused from one table to the next, also aim to cut down prep time between sessions.
The revision for this edition draws on a seasoned design team, led notably by Jeremy Crawford, James Wyatt and Christopher Perkins, names regulars of D&D have run into for years across several of the game's major campaigns and supplements. The book is published by Wizards of the Coast.
To get the most out of this guide, you will need the 2024 Player's Handbook for Dungeons & Dragons, which covers character creation and the core rules; the 2024 Monster Manual also usefully rounds out a Dungeon Master's arsenal for populating your adventures.
