Disney Villainous: Treacherous Tides (EN)
In Disney Villainous: Treacherous Tides, two new villains join the murky waters of the Disney Villainous series: Davy Jones, the cursed captain of the Flying Dutchman straight out of Pirates of the Caribbean, and Tamatoa, the giant crab obsessed with his own shine from Moana. This standalone expansion throws you into a two-player duel, each villain with their own kingdom board, Villain deck, and Fate deck. On your turn, you move your 3D sculpted mover to a new location, play Ally, Item, Effect, and Condition cards to activate the actions available there, then refill your hand back up to four cards. One of the sneakiest actions lets you draw from an opponent's Fate deck and place a hero, item, or effect directly on their board to sabotage their plans.
Davy Jones must get his hands on five treasures by hiding them beneath defeated heroes, while Tamatoa must take down Maui and Moana to steal the Heart of Te Fiti and the magical fish hook. Two ocean-themed villains, two completely different paths to victory, and a real duel of pettiness to savor whether you're playing against a friend or a series regular.
Treacherous Tides is for you if you already have your Disney Villainous plans down to a science and want a new pair of villains to play head to head. It's also a great entry point into the series, since the expansion plays perfectly well on its own, no other box required, for a quick and vicious two-player showdown. If you love sabotaging your opponent's plans at the worst possible moment, this duel between two equally devious personalities should be right up your alley.
Fun fact: Davy Jones is the very first live-action movie villain to join Disney Villainous, a series that had, until now, only featured villains from animated films. Treacherous Tides is also the only box in the collection to pair up two characters with no direct connection between their source movies, united here only by their ocean theme and their thirst for treasure.
This expansion was designed by Mike Mulvihill, who took over the Villainous system after it was created by studio Prospero Hall, and who also designed Star Wars Villainous: Scum and Villainy and the Marvel Villainous: We Are Venom expansion. The artwork for both new villains was created by Johnny Morrow and Yuri Cameirana.
Treacherous Tides plays entirely on its own for 2 players, but Davy Jones and Tamatoa can also face off against the villains from the base game Disney Villainous: The Worst Takes It All and the series' other expansions for bigger showdowns.
