Marina is a treasure diver. She has been exploring the bottom of the Blue Lagoon for ten years, with a mask, a shovel and iron determination. In ten years, she has found only one kind of treasure: left boots. Hundreds of left boots. Never a right one. Nobody knows where they come from.
One morning, digging in the sand behind a rock, Marina saw something greenish-blue sparkle. A stone. A real gemstone, as big as an egg, as clear as the lagoon water. A tourmaline. The treasure of her life. She came up to the surface shouting so loudly that three seagulls dropped their fish.
(The Dungeon Master, without looking up from the screen: Marina ran to show her tourmaline to her neighbour, Wilfried, the chilly yeti who lives on an iceberg in the lagoon. He wears two tuques. He used to have three. That’s another story.)
Wilfried looked at the stone. He took it in his big paw. He turned it over. Then he said: “Oh. You found it.” Marina didn’t understand. Wilfried explained that it was his stone. He had brought it from the Frosted Peaks. It holds the warmth of the sun, and he used it to warm his feet at night. He had lost it falling off his iceberg two years ago.
Marina looked at the stone. Then at Wilfried, shivering under his two tuques. Then at the stone. The treasure of her life. Ten years of left boots. She sighed, very loudly. Then she gave the tourmaline back to the yeti. Wilfried hugged it to his heart. He stopped shivering for the first time in two years.
The next day, as a thank-you, Wilfried went down to the bottom of the lagoon with Marina. He’s very strong, and cold water doesn’t bother him, since he’s already freezing. He lifted the big rock Marina had never been able to move. Underneath was a chest. In the chest were a hundred right boots.
(The Dungeon Master, with a smirk: Marina now has a hundred complete pairs of boots. She sells them at the Port-Grelot market. She’s the richest person in the lagoon. Wilfried finally sleeps with warm feet.)
While cutting the tourmaline into a handier foot warmer, Wilfried dropped seven translucent chips, teal like the lagoon water on a sunny morning. He gave them to Marina. The Tourmaline dice were born. They’re perfect for treasure hunters, generous hearts and players who always find the right thing… at the wrong time.
In translucent teal acrylic with white numbers, these polyhedral dice are perfect for your Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder or any roleplaying game (RPG). A precious dice set. That also keeps your feet warm.
