Résurrection Dice - 7D Set

Osvaldo is a necromancer. He lives in a crypt in the northwest of the kingdom, surrounded by skeletons, candles and bone dust. A few years ago, he lost a duel to La Pistolera, the gunslinger of Dernier-Recours. During the duel, he sneezed into his own bone dust. He claims he did it on purpose.

Since then, Osvaldo has been preparing his revenge. He spent three years learning the most powerful spell in necromancy: Resurrection. Bringing an entire army back to life. He chose an old pioneer cemetery, right next to Dernier-Recours. He raised his arms. He recited the incantation. The ground shook.

(The Dungeon Master, checking their notes: the spell worked perfectly. The dead came back to life. Not as zombies. Not as skeletons. Alive. Completely. With their memories, their appetite and their personalities. Osvaldo hadn’t read the little note at the bottom of the page.)

Forty pioneers climbed out of the ground, dusting themselves off. They were hungry. They were thirsty. They wanted to know why the price of bread had gone up so much. An old lady asked Osvaldo if he was eating enough, because he looked so pale. A blacksmith asked him for a job. A child asked him why he was wearing a dress.

Osvaldo shouted: “My army! Attack Dernier-Recours!” The pioneers thought about it. Then they said no, because it was their village and they couldn’t wait to see their houses again. They set off on foot toward Dernier-Recours, singing. Osvaldo followed them, running behind with his spellbook.

At the entrance to the village, La Pistolera was waiting, coffee in hand, her oversized hat on her head. She looked at the forty pioneers. Then at Osvaldo. She finished her coffee. Then she said: “Welcome home.” The village partied for three days. Osvaldo was named an honorary citizen. He cried. He claims it was bone dust.

(The Dungeon Master, trying not to laugh: the old lady adopted Osvaldo. She brings him soup at the crypt every Sunday. He’s gained three kilos. His revenge has been postponed. Indefinitely.)
