Léopold was the most fearful halfling in the kingdom. He was afraid of thunder, of soup that was too hot, of moths and of his own reflection in a spoon. One day, at the Thirsty Dwarf tavern, he was served some “liquid courage.” It was orange juice. It worked for an hour.

One evening, to get home faster, Léopold took a shortcut through the Moor of Brumevent, the one with the old closed cemetery. The fog was thick. So was the silence. Then, somewhere in the mist, a little bell rang. Ding. Ding.

(The Dungeon Master, from behind the screen: You hear a little bell in the fog. Roll Courage. You got a 2. You freeze on the spot. It’s still your best roll this week.)

It was Yannick, the Ankou, the reaper of the moor, who has carried a little bell out of politeness ever since his cart stopped squeaking. Tall, black hood, scythe on his shoulder. Léopold’s teeth were chattering so loudly that it sounded like an army of skeletons. Yannick, for his part, spotted two small hairy feet sticking out of a bush. He screamed.

Léopold screamed because Yannick screamed. Yannick screamed even louder because the bush was screaming. They both ran off, each in his own direction… and spent three hours running around the same tombstone, each convinced the other was chasing him. The dead in the cemetery complained about the noise.

At sunrise, out of breath, they finally looked at each other. “You’re not a giant rat?” asked Yannick. “You didn’t come to take me?” asked Léopold. “No. I deliver the ghosts’ mail on Tuesdays.” They had been so scared that they had both turned blue. Léopold stayed blue for a week. And the drops of cold sweat that fell during the chase had frozen in the morning grass: seven clear drops, each with a little blue skull inside, exactly the face Yannick made while screaming.

(The Dungeon Master, with a smirk: Now Léopold walks Yannick home every night. He wears socks, out of politeness. Yannick still checks under his cart before leaving.)

The Peur bleue dice (“blue fright”) were born. Clear as a cold sweat and home to a little blue skull, they’re perfect for horror campaigns, foggy nights and players who jump at every roll.

With their clear resin and a blue and silver skull inside each die, these polyhedral dice are perfect for your Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder or any roleplaying game (RPG). A dice set that’s scary… just a little.
