Ignace is a gnome inventor from the Street of Bolts, in the capital. He has filled 312 notebook pages with failures: a crêpe machine that makes hats, a mail catapult that always delivers next door, an ice cream centrifuge that makes dice. His only success, he says, is the notebook.
This year, Ignace tackled his biggest project yet: a carriage that drives itself, talks and drives better than any coachman. He named it K.I.T.T.: the Kinetic Intelligent Totally-autonomous Transport. He spent eight months putting it together. He added golden wheels, lanterns and a little velvet seat.
(The Dungeon Master, checking their notes: on test day, K.I.T.T. didn’t move a centimetre. Ignace had planned everything, except what makes the carriage go. He had forgotten the engine. Notebook page 313.)
Ignace sat down on the curb, discouraged. That’s when a little beige puppy came along. A stray puppy, with a golden spot on its muzzle and a tail that never stopped. It sniffed the carriage. It jumped onto the velvet seat. It barked once. And K.I.T.T. started up.
Nobody ever understood how. Not even Ignace. But when the puppy barks, the carriage moves forward. When it wags its tail, the carriage turns. When it’s hungry, the carriage drives itself to the butcher. When it sees a squirrel, the carriage crosses three streets and a park at full speed. The capital guards have stopped K.I.T.T. four times for speeding. The puppy wagged its tail. The guards let it go four times.
Ignace presented his carriage at the Royal Exhibition of Inventions. The jury was very impressed. They asked him how the engine worked. Ignace pointed at the puppy. The puppy licked the jury president. Ignace won first prize. It’s the first time in 312 pages.
(The Dungeon Master, with a smirk: Ignace added a page 314 to his notebook. A single line: “The best inventions have four legs.” Then he drew a bone next to it. The puppy ate it. The notebook, not the bone.)
To celebrate, Ignace cast seven clear crystal dice, each with a little figurine of the puppy inside, and numbers as golden as the spot on its muzzle. The K.I.T.T. dice were born. They’re perfect for inventors, four-legged friends and players whose best plan is often the most unexpected one.
In clear resin with a little puppy inside and gold numbers, these polyhedral dice are perfect for your Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder or any roleplaying game (RPG). A loyal dice set that wags its tail on every 20.
