Gunther is a dwarven distiller. He lives at the Windy Pass, where he makes a very prestigious gold-leaf liqueur. The problem is the taste. Everyone who has tried it says the same thing: “cinnamon, anger and a little bit of foot.” Gunther says it’s “complex.”
One summer, he decided to create a new liqueur, softer and fruitier, for the ladies of the court. He needed wild raspberries. The best in the kingdom grow on a single slope above the distillery, in a thorny bush as big as a house.
(The Dungeon Master, without looking up from the screen: that bush belongs to a bear. A three-hundred-kilo brown bear who has slept next to it for twenty years and considers every raspberry a member of the family.)
Gunther climbed up with a basket. The bear was asleep. Gunther picked a raspberry. The bear opened one eye. Gunther picked a second raspberry. The bear opened the other eye. Gunther, being a very proud dwarf, picked a third raspberry while looking the bear in the eye. The bear stood up. Gunther went back down the slope rolling, with his basket, three raspberries and a very offended bear behind him.
Back at the distillery, Gunther did what a dwarf always does in these situations. He offered a drink. The bear tasted the gold-leaf liqueur. He made a terrible face. Then he asked for more. He thought it tasted like “cinnamon, anger and a little bit of foot.” That is exactly what a bear tastes like.
Gunther and the bear signed an agreement. The bear guards the raspberries and the distillery. Gunther gives him one bottle a week. The new raspberry liqueur came out in the spring: soft, fruity, purple and green. The ladies of the court loved it. They said it had “a slight aftertaste of bear.” Gunther says it’s “complex.”
(The Dungeon Master, trying not to laugh: the bear now has a distiller’s apron. He tastes every barrel. Gunther claims the quality has gone way up. Nobody dares contradict him, or the bear.)
At the bottom of the first vat were seven little purple and green crystals, sparkling like raspberries in the sun on their leaves. The Framboises sauvages dice (“wild raspberries”) were born. They’re perfect for reckless foragers, stubborn dwarves and players who search every bush, even the ones that growl.
In sparkling purple and green resin, these polyhedral dice are perfect for your Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder or any roleplaying game (RPG). A sweet dice set with a little aftertaste of adventure.
