Ysolde is eleven years old. She’s a squire, which means she carries a knight’s luggage and cleans his boots. Her great-uncle, a very famous and very tired knight, left her his most precious weapon: a vorpal sword. A vorpal sword is a magic blade that cuts through absolutely anything. On the first try. Effortlessly.

Ysolde drew the sword for the first time in front of the whole village. She aimed at a straw dummy. She cut the fence, a cart, the blacksmith’s hat and an apple tree branch. The dummy didn’t have a scratch.

(The Dungeon Master, checking their notes: the vorpal sword has one little quirk the great-uncle forgot to mention. It cuts everything. Except what you aim at. He had never noticed: his aim was always terrible.)

Ysolde practised every day. She aimed at a tree: the sword trimmed the grass around it in a perfect line. She aimed at an apple: the sword trimmed the hedge next to it into the shape of a rabbit. She aimed at a goblin stealing chickens: the sword cut his belt. The goblin left holding up his pants, much less threatening.

After a month, the whole village was lining up outside her house. Not to fight. To get their hedges trimmed. Ysolde aimed at the house, and the hedge became a dragon, a castle or a horse’s head. The king himself ordered a garden. She aimed at the palace. The royal garden is now the most beautiful in the kingdom.

One evening, a real monster showed up: a five-headed hydra, very angry. Everyone screamed. Ysolde took her sword, closed her eyes and aimed, very hard, at the pretty rosebush next to the hydra. Five heads fell. The rosebush was fine.

(The Dungeon Master, with a smirk: Ysolde was knighted the next day. For the ceremony, the king laid a sword on her shoulder. Ysolde asked him to aim somewhere else, just to be safe. She knows how this works.)

To celebrate, Ysolde gave a little tap of her sword to a block of pearly blue glass. She was aiming at the block. It fell into seven perfect dice, all cut slightly to the side. The Épée vorpale dice (“vorpal sword”) were born. They’re perfect for warriors, beginner squires and players who miss their target… but still hit something important.

In sparkling pearly blue acrylic with white numbers, these polyhedral dice are perfect for your Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder or any roleplaying game (RPG). A dice set that cuts deep. Not always where you want.
