Dagmar is a dwarven engineer. She always builds too big. When she was asked to repair the Snack Bridge, she rebuilt it with 47 levers, a house for the ogre who guards the bridge and one lever that does nothing. She refuses to say which one.

One day, she read the story of a legendary aviator from another kingdom, a certain Earhart, the first to cross the ocean alone through the air. Dagmar closed the book. She said: “Me too. But bigger.”

(The Dungeon Master, without looking up from the screen: it took her two years to build her flying machine. It had 300-metre wings, 48 levers, a kitchen, a library and a little rooftop garden. She named it the Earhart. Nobody believed it would take off. It took off.)

The Earhart rose gently above the Street of Bolts, to the applause of the whole capital. It climbed. And climbed. It went through the clouds. Then it disappeared into the blue sky. The next day, it hadn’t come back. A week later, still nothing. A month later, the king sent search teams all over the kingdom.

They searched for Dagmar in the Frosted Peaks, in the desert, at the bottom of the Blue Lagoon. Bards wrote sad songs about her. Her name was carved on a statue. The capital declared a day of mourning. That day, at noon sharp, a gigantic shadow covered the central square.

The Earhart was coming down. Slowly. Very slowly. It landed exactly where it had taken off, three months earlier. Dagmar stepped out in a good mood, carrying tomatoes from her rooftop garden. She had never gone very far. Her machine was so big that it had taken her three months to land.

(The Dungeon Master, trying not to laugh: they asked her why it took so long. She answered: “I was missing a lever.” The 48th lever was the landing lever. She had put it next to the one that does nothing. She pulled the wrong one for three months.)

Before coming down, Dagmar had gathered seven little pieces of sky caught on her wings: light blue, pearly, with golden glints like the sun above the clouds. The Earhart dice were born. They’re perfect for adventurers who aim high, over-ambitious inventors and players who go exploring and come back much later than planned.

In pearly sky blue acrylic with gold numbers, these polyhedral dice are perfect for your Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder or any roleplaying game (RPG). A dice set that flies high. And comes back. Eventually.
