Maurice is a villain. Officially. He has a dungeon, a black cape and an evil laugh he practises every morning. But he is far too polite. His alignment is “Lawful Nice.” When heroes come to fight him, he offers them cookies and apologizes for the slippery stairs.
For a year now, Maurice has had tea every Thursday with Rosette, the enchantress whose magic rose-coloured glasses make her see everything as beautiful. He loves her. He has never told her. Every Thursday, he opens his mouth, he gathers all his courage, and he says: “A little more tea?”
(The Dungeon Master, from behind the screen: in a villain’s dungeon, dark magic reacts to emotions. Every sentence Maurice didn’t say came out of his mouth as a little pink cloud. There were a lot of them. Do the math: 52 Thursdays.)
After a year, the dungeon was filled with a thick fog of unsaid words. Pink, sugary, impossible to see a metre ahead. Heroes who came to attack Maurice got lost in the corridors. They bumped into each other, apologized, then left with a cookie, very confused. The fog spilled out the windows. It covered the road. It reached Saint-Glinglin, where the baker sold chocolate croissants to the mailman for a week, thinking he was his wife.
The following Thursday, everyone cancelled their tea. Except Rosette. Thanks to her rose-coloured glasses, she could see perfectly in the pink fog: for her, everything was pink anyway. She crossed the dungeon without hesitating, sat down in front of Maurice and asked: “Was there something you wanted to tell me?”
Maurice opened his mouth. He summoned all his courage, all his villainy, all his love. And he said: “A little more tea?” The fog doubled. Rosette smiled and answered: “Yes.” Maurice never found out if she meant the tea.
(The Dungeon Master, writing it down in their notebook: rumour has it they got married in the fog three weeks ago. Nobody saw the ceremony. Not even Maurice, who isn’t sure he was there.)
When the fog finally lifted, there were seven pearly pink dice on the table, soft as the words you don’t dare say. The Brouillard des non-dits dice (“fog of unsaid words”) were born. They’re perfect for polite villains, shy hearts and players who don’t dare tell the DM they forgot their character sheet.
In pearly pink acrylic with white numbers, these polyhedral dice are perfect for your Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder or any roleplaying game (RPG). A dice set that says a lot without a word.
