L'Iliade Dice - 36D6 Set

The siege had lasted ten years. The city walls were impregnable. The besiegers were exhausted. Until the day someone had a brilliant idea: build a huge wooden horse, hide the best warriors inside, and offer it as a gift.

The most enthusiastic volunteer? Ti-Guy the barbarian.

(The Dungeon Master, without looking up from the screen: Roll Stealth. Ti-Guy… Ti-Guy, you can’t bring your two-handed axe into the horse. It’s sticking out of its mouth.)

There were thirty-six of them hidden in the horse’s belly. It was hot, it was dark, and Ti-Guy had eaten baked beans the night before. To pass the time, someone brought out dice. Each warrior had one, carved from the blue wood of the Aegean Sea and the brown wood of the horse, with golden pips like sunlight on shields.

The game got so intense that nobody heard the guards bring the horse into the city. Or the party. Or nightfall. Ti-Guy eventually yelled “SIX!” so loud that everyone was discovered.

(The Dungeon Master, writing it down in their notebook: The plan failed. But Ti-Guy won the game, so he considers it a victory.)
