ClueBox / Houdini's Magic Escape (ML)

This puzzle box belongs to the ClueBox series, a line of miniature escape rooms solved entirely by hand, with no app and no electronic timer. The cell bars, the chain wrapped around them, and the locks engraved with nods to the magician's signature tricks link together into a chain of puzzles to solve one by one to free the secret compartment hidden at the heart of the cube. Expect 2 to 3 hours to break free, solo or with a partner, ages 14 and up. Once solved, the mechanism resets thanks to the included instructions, so the puzzle box can pass from one aspiring escape artist to the next without ever spoiling the surprise.

The difficulty level is advanced: few explicit hints, plenty of observation and logic required, fitting for a mystery worthy of history's greatest magician. Houdini's Magic Escape is designed and made by iDventure, a German studio specializing in wooden puzzle boxes inspired by adventure and escape worlds.

On October 22, 1926, in his dressing room at the Princess Theatre in Montreal, a student convinced that Houdini could take any blow struck him with a series of punches to the stomach before he had time to brace himself. The great escape artist finished out his tour anyway, but his condition worsened: on October 31, 1926, he died in Detroit of peritonitis, at age 52. A century later, Harry Houdini remains a legend: the Handcuff King who broke free of cages, chains, and straitjackets in front of packed houses, never once giving away his secrets. That legend is now yours to relive with your own hands.
