*French version
What if you could settle the island of Catan without ever unfolding a game board? CATAN: Le jeu de dés (FR) lets you relive the adventure of the famous island by betting everything on your dice rolls. Six special dice represent the island's resources - wood, wool, grain, clay and ore - and you roll them up to three times per turn to form the combinations that let you build roads, settlements, cities and knights directly on your own score sheet. Each game lasts about fifteen rounds, for a 15 to 30 minute adventure that fits just as easily in a backpack as on a living room table, that is how portable the format is. With its mechanism inspired by Yahtzee and a theme lifted straight from the original game, this compact format recreates the essence of the Catan experience: managing resources, planning your builds and racing the other settlers to victory.
CATAN: Le jeu de dés is for you if you love the world of Catan but want a version that is faster, more portable and easier to pull out anytime. This party game works just as well solo, for a quick round between two tasks, as it does with a group of up to four players around the table, at the cottage or on the road.
CATAN: Le jeu de dés uses the roll-and-write mechanism, a family of games that has become hugely popular in recent years for its speed and portability. Instead of a board, each player builds their own mini island on a score sheet, much like Yahtzee, so the same pad of sheets can fuel dozens of replays.
The game carries the signature of Klaus Teuber, the original creator of Catan (Settlers of Catan), who also designed Catan Junior and Catan: The Duel. His trademark shows here: rules simple enough to explain in minutes, with just enough depth to make you want to play again.
