Welcome to the ruthless Wild West! In BANG!, a cult western card game, each player secretly receives a role: sheriff, deputy, outlaw or renegade. Only the sheriff reveals theirs, and everything else is bluff, suspicion and gunfire. The outlaws want to take down the sheriff, the deputies are ready to protect them, and the renegade pursues a personal goal by playing both sides. Each player also takes on a character with a special ability and a hand limit. On your turn, you draw, play your cards (shoot an opponent within range, heal with a beer, defend with a barrel or a dodge) and try to figure out who is on your side. The draw deck holds 22 different card types: weapons like the Winchester, horses to keep your distance, and the dreaded Gatling that targets every other player. The symbols are language-independent and 7 summary cards help the players.
BANG! is for you if you enjoy hidden role games, deduction and bluffing, and if you want a party game that creates unlikely alliances and memorable betrayals around the table. You will probably enjoy this game if you want a fast-paced session where you never know who your real ally is.
BANG! won an Origins Award in 2003 (best traditional card game) and was a nominee for best original game at Lucca in 2002. It was created by Emiliano Sciarra, with artwork by Stefano De Fazi and Alessandro Pierangelini.
