*French version
Slip into the pointed robe of a wizard or the cape of a witch and step up to the most prestigious alchemy contest in town: your potion-brewing skills are about to be put to the test in Alchimix (FR). Each round, you reveal your lowest card to set the initiative order, then draft and place ingredients around your character to build the best potion you can. Only the top ingredient counts at scoring time, so every stacked card becomes a choice that can make or break your strategy. Alchimix is a combo and point optimization game: you need to assemble the best five-ingredient combination while reading the judges' shifting preferences and cashing in on the bonus your familiar grants based on the ingredient types gathered in your potion. Your bookmarks, green or red, let you add two ingredients at once at just the right moment to multiply your flavors. With eight modular chapters that change the scoring rules from one game to the next (sometimes ingredient types matter, sometimes their biomes, sometimes their pairs), Alchimix keeps remarkable replayability despite lightning-fast 20-minute rounds.
Alchimix is for you if you like short card games where every ingredient slot matters, if you're drawn to combo and tableau-optimization mechanics, and if you're after a family game that wraps up before attention spans do. Groups who enjoy switching up the rules from game to game thanks to the modular chapter system will also get a kick out of it, and so will new players: the core mechanic is easy to learn even though the optimization asks for a bit of thought.
Its eight modular chapters mean no two games play out quite the same way, since the scoring rules shift with every new round.
Alchimix was designed by the trio of Alexis Aspecada, Gregoire Bravais and Aurelien Medinger, who also illustrated the game's colorful cast of wizards, nitpicky judges and mischievous familiars.
