Tikal Legend (FR) is a strategy game of exploration for 1 to 4 players that gives the 1999 classic a second wind. You run a small museum in Guatemala and send your team of archaeologists to dig up the temples and treasures of Tikal. You must open paths through the jungle, set up camps, move your explorers efficiently and keep an eye on your rivals, who run their own museums. The board is built as you play and action point management is at the heart of every turn. To win, you will need to balance several goals: restoring temples, collecting treasures and controlling lakes, clearings, jungle areas and site sectors. Volcanoes even trigger intermediate scoring rounds.

The Legend mode adds museum directors with special powers, several scenarios and gorgeous resin temples. The box also includes the Classic mode, faithful to the original game, as well as a solo mode against an artificial intelligence, designed by David Turczi.

Tikal Legend is for you if you enjoy exploration games where every action counts, where you plan your turns carefully and where you lay tiles to build the board as the game unfolds. You will probably love this game if you like choice-rich games with lots of interaction and majorities to fight over, and if you want the fun of Tikal with more strategic depth.

Fun fact: Tikal Legend celebrates the 25th anniversary of the original game, a classic that won the Spiel des Jahres. This anniversary edition offers higher-quality components, including resin temples and 3D volcanoes.

Tikal Legend is by Wolfgang Kramer and Michael Kiesling, the author duo who also created the original Tikal. The artwork is by Yvan Villeneuve.
