Each year, the magic classes of Corbosie school face off in the traditional trial of the wandering towers: reach the Dungeon before every other apprentice wizard. The trouble is, they have all been procrastinating, too busy learning new spells, and their potion vials are now hopelessly empty. In Les Tours Ambulantes (FR), you play one of these young wizards perched atop moving towers, and that is exactly where the game's clever twist lies: it is not only the wizards who advance, the towers themselves can be moved to carve out a shorter path to victory. Trap your opponents under a tower to capture a bit of their magical essence in a vial, then use those vials to cast spells that will shake up your rivals' plans. Between route planning, remembering positions, and a healthy dose of mischief, every turn brings its share of surprises. Four modular boards refresh the playing field every game, and the classic, advanced, cooperative, or solo modes let you tailor the experience to your group's mood.

Les Tours Ambulantes is for you if you enjoy board games that blend spatial thinking, memory, and a touch of sneaky strategy, without ever getting complicated to explain. Games wrap up in about thirty minutes, making this an excellent pick for a family game night or to close out a get-together with friends. Les Tours Ambulantes earned the Mensa Select 2024 seal, an honor that Mensa awards every year to games that stand out for their originality, quality, and clarity of rules. Fun fact: unlike most race games, it is not the characters that move across the board first, but the towers themselves, a rather rare mechanical twist that gives the whole experience its unique character.

The game was designed by the duo Wolfgang Kramer and Michael Kiesling, two towering names in German-style board games, also behind well-loved titles like Tikal and Torres. The warm, expressive illustrations are by Michael Menzel, an illustrator appreciated for his work on the Legends of Andor series.
