20 Strong: Tanglewoods Base Game (EN)

20 Strong: Tanglewoods sends you alone into an ancient, ever-shifting forest where classic fairy tales have taken a much darker turn. You play a hero making your way through the woods to grandma's cabin, dodging the Big Bad Wolf's pack and battling the creatures that lurk among the trees. The 20 Strong system runs on 20 custom dice and a deck of double-sided cards: each card reveals different gameplay elements depending on which face is up, so the forest redraws itself every game and no two runs play the same. Between tactical fights, bargaining with the traveling merchant, and tight resource management, you have to keep your cool all the way to the final showdown with the Wolf, just before reaching the cabin.

You'll probably love 20 Strong: Tanglewoods if you're after a solo game that sets up fast, plays in 30 to 45 minutes, and still packs real strategic depth through dice and resource management. Fans of twisted fairy tales and haunted-forest atmosphere will also find plenty to enjoy: every session turns Little Red Riding Hood into a genuine survival duel.

Its double-sided card mechanic, which literally reshapes the landscape depending on which face is played, is the signature of the whole Tanglewoods line. Once you've mastered the Tanglewoods Red deck, the same dice system supports other standalone decks like Tanglewoods Gold, White, or Baba Yaga, each delivering a brand-new story playable with the components from this core box.

The game is designed by Logan Giannini, with art direction by Manny Trembley, also co-creator of the popular Dice Throne, and illustrations by Serena Schiani, who give the fairy-tale cast a visual identity all their own.
